Piedmont Community College offers financial aid to qualified students from a variety of Federal, State and private sources. Applications for all types of financial aid are available from the Financial Aid Office in Building E. All applicants for federal financial aid must possess a high school diploma, GED or prove ability to benefit prior to award of funds. This aid includes the following:

Federal Pell Grant is federally funded and may pay up to 60 percent of the cost of attending Piedmont Community College. A recipient must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards are based on two semesters of attendance.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is funded by the Federal Government and administered as college funds to undergraduate students. A recipient must demonstrate need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The minimum award is $100 and the maximum award is $4000.

North Carolina Student Incentive Grants (NCSIG) are administered by College Foundation, Inc. Recipients must be legal resi- dents of North Carolina accepted for enrollment or enrolled in good standing at an institution of higher education and must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students are urged to apply by March 15.

Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides jobs for students who have a demonstrated financial need as determined by the Family Financial Statement. Eligible students are employed at the institution on a part-time basis. In arranging a job and determining how many hours a week a student may work under this program, the Financial Aid Officer will consider the student's need for financial assistance, class schedule and academic progress. The rate of pay is at least equal to the current minimum wage.

The Trustees Scholarship is given to the student with the highest academic rank in the graduating class from both Person County High School and Bartlett Yancey High School. Each Scholarship recipient must be enrolled in a program of at least 12 months duration at Piedmont Community College. The amount of the Trustees Scholarship is $1,000 each. It is to be used to pay tuition, fees and books.

The Piedmont Community College Foundation, Inc. administers certain private scholarships. Determination and selection of scholarship recipients is the sole responsibility of the Foundation.
