Each Semester the College sponsors a new student orientation. This orientation or “New Student Welcome,” as we choose to call it, provides an opportunity for new or returning students to receive information that is pertinent to their overall success. It is geared toward assisting students in getting basic information that will help to ensure a positive and successful experience as we guide them toward accomplishing their academic goals. The orientation is usually scheduled in the evening and lasts a couple of hours. Within this time frame, students are introduced to school administrators, encouraged to tour the campus, and are given information relative to achieving academic success. Basic information from various areas of the college is provided. The information includes: an introduction to the school, academic expectations, information regarding financial aid, various student resources, an introduction to counselors, Library personnel, the Dean of Students, an introduction to the PCC Career Service Center and Academic Success Center, online registration, etc. The aim of this orientation is to aid students in successfully meeting their educational goals by providing information deemed very important to academic success and retention.
